Forty-Third Week: Righteousness

A preacher of righteousness…
—2 Peter 2:5

Noah was renowned as “a preacher of righteousness,” because of his reputation as a man of righteousness. He was righteous, not through the possession of a flawless character, but because he walked with God. As justice and equity are synonymous with righteousness, Noah knew that God was just in bringing the flood upon the world of the ungodly, and he was at one with God in such a judgment. Walking with God meant perfect agreement with Him in all things. And yet, as a faithful “preacher of righteousness,” and with an upright life to back up his preaching, only seven out of a vast multitude were saved.
