Thirtieth Week: Witnesses

Witnessing both to small and great.
—Acts 26:22

Paul was not crowd greedy. He lived too near the heart of his Master to neglect small audiences, for Jesus, we read, preached in villages as well as cities. Of course, Paul’s determination to witness to small and great means that the position and prestige of men did not sway him. He was just as faithful among princes as among paupers. And yet we are warranted in making a further application. Paul was equally willing to address a few souls at the river side, as he was to preach to a crowd on Mars Hill.

You can always test a preacher’s grace and pride by the way he reacts to small audiences or to invitations from inconspicuous spheres. Is your witness for small as well as great audiences?
