Twenty-Seventh Week: The Lion Face

The calf and the young lion…together;
and a little child shall lead them.
—Isaiah 11:6

The entrance of sin produced a change even in the nature of animals. Because of the voraciousness of many of the beasts, it is impossible for others to dwell near them. Calves cannot presently dwell with lions, unless it be within the lions! And as for a child leading a lion as a pet, what mother would trust her child within range of an uncaged lion?

But when Christ is on the earth, such is to be the quality of the millennium that even the animal creation is to be at peace. Wolves and lambs, calves and young lions will roam together and become the playthings of children. All fear is to be banished from the minds of men. And what a blissful era this will be for both man and beast!
