Fifty-Second Week: The End

At the time appointed the end shall be.
—Daniel 8:19

Daniel has the same prophetic end in view when he prayed, “O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?” (Daniel 12:8), to which can be added the words of the Master, “The end is not yet” (Matthew 24:6). The thought we want to emphasize is that any end is of divine appointment. Whether it be the end of a period or a person, God determines the termination thereof. And God is never before the time, neither is He late. At the time He decrees, His hand is seen. Often we seek to hasten the end of some things. We grow impatient and try to push the hands of the clock forward. But surely if God can wait until the opportune moment arrives for Him to fulfill His will we ought to be able to manifest patience.
