Fifty-Second Week: The End

The end of that man is peace.
—Psalm 37:37

In another connection (see 1 Kings 8:61), a Bible teacher reminds us that “the word ‘perfect’ implies wholeheartedness for God, single mindedness, sincerity—not sinless perfection.” Well if such traits are ours we can expect a happy landing on eternity’s broad fields. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. Voltaire, the French skeptic, never had a peaceful end. His nurse testified to the horrible hours he spent on his death bed. How different was the end of D. L. Moody, who looked upon his death as a coronation day. At peace with God, the famous evangelist had a peaceful end.
