As an eagle…so the Lord.
—Deuteronomy 32:11, 12
As a symbol of divine activities, the ways of an eagle are very expressive. (See Exodus 19:4; Jeremiah 48:40). In his song, Moses uses the eagle’s tenderness and care of its young to describe beautifully God’s kindness and provision. The stirring up of the nest, fluttering over the young, spreading abroad the wings, can all be applied to God’s consideration of His own, and as a manifestation of grace to the sinner.
